Project Description
Massachusetts legislators recently passed a new law that requires school districts to provide means to screen students for a potential language based learning disability, such as dyslexia. The Ezra H. Baker Innovation Special Education Department will purchase Wilson Reading System products which allow us to teach our students using a research-based, systematic, multi-sensory literacy program to maximize student learning and understanding.

How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)
The goal of this project is to help our most struggling students learn to read, write, spell and comprehend using a systematic, research-based approach. The materials purchased will allow for the Special Education Department to follow the program with fidelity and provide appropriate instruction to help our students with learning disabilities succeed.

Benefit to the students and the school
This program will support Tier II and Tier III students in need of reading and writing intervention, specifically ones with a language based disability.

Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable)
This curriculum and instructional materials can be used year after year with students K-3 in the town of Dennis.
