Upper Cape Cod Hackathon

Mashpee Public Schools

Project Description
This is an opportunity for students across the Upper Cape to come together for a student-led conference in computer science. Students from Mashpee High School, Falmouth High School, Sandwich High School, Upper Cape Cod Tech and Bourne High School will participate in the first-ever Upper Cape Cod Hackathon at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Center. We are trying to make it a free event so that all students across all five districts can attend.

How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)
Success of this project will be that students are inspired to learn more about computer science and continue to take classes at their respective schools. The schools and administration will see the need for computer science in their schools. Students will be inspired to work across town lines to better the local Cape Cod Community and gain a global perspective.

Benefit to the students and the school
This opportunity will allow students to explore computer science through participating in learning sessions and then collaborating with each other to create a computer science project that will better the local Cape Cod community i.e., creating an app to disseminate information. This will be a field trip for the students to also experience the Wampanoag Tribal Center.
