Project Description
- To provide stations equipped with activities that engage preschoolers in science, math, technology, literacy, and engineering.
- To recognize parents as child’s first teacher.
- To support the state’s initiative to collaborate with museums and libraries to enhance children’s learning opportunities.
- To support preschoolers’ learning in science, literacy, technology, engineering, and math.
- To help preK students to prepare for the transition to Kindergarten by being prepared for the expectations by using the Let’s Get for Kindergarten kit supplied by the Boston Children’s Museum.
- To support healthy socialization of all children birth to age eight and to build a resource network for parents.
- To provide a family engagement event for the entire school.
How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)
Calculate the number of children and parents (grandparents, guardians) that attend this event.
Benefit to the students and the school
The overall benefit to the students and parents is that they have a constructive engagement opportunity in which to participate. The event will help ready preschoolers for Kindergarten and its expectations The event will bring the student body together to enjoy “Steve’s Songs” a musical presentation that focuses on Science Preschoolers will learn routines, gain skills, and have more literacy integration The event will support the curriculum devised by both the commonwealth and its core Competencies and the Mashpee Pre-2 curriculum in science, technology, the arts, math and engineering. The event will support the mission of the Department of Early Education and Care by providing evidence of the five protective factors which include social connections, parent resilience, knowledge of parenting and child development, give concrete support in times of need, and focus on children’s social and emotional development
