West Tisbury School
The funding from this grant would pay for the purchase of 350 re-usable, non-plastic bags for our annual Book Fair. These would be given to students and parents who are purchasing books from the Scholastic book Fair. This will hopefully help eliminate plastic bags at West Tisbury School. Students this year will be allowed to create their own slogan for their bag and individualize it with decorations.
How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)?
This will be evaluated by the number of parents and students who participate. For every person who uses a re-usable bag, it will save one plastic bag from being put into the landfill.
Benefit to the students and the school
The benefit to the students is supporting their initiative to ban plastic bags art our school Book Fair. The students would like to offer folks a re-usable bag and would like to eliminate the use of plastic bags at their school book fair. They will be engaged in designing their own bags, researching an appropriate slogan for their bag, and using their new bag.
Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable)
We hold a book fair in the Spring and would use these for that fair.
