Protect and Serve Mural

Marguerite E Small Elementary School

Project Description
Creating a mural near the lobby at MES. The mural will pay tribute to the people who protect and serve our community (police, police dogs, fire, public servants, etc.). Yarmouth police officers visit our school daily. They provide children and adults with pride and joy of helping others. I will have students help paint and map out what the mural will display. The money awarded will pay for materials (paint, brushes, cloth, tape, etc.). There is a specific paint needed for the mural to last for years to come.

How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)
Success will be seen as students working together to create a mural, plan it out, draw/map out the wall and the painting of the mural. I plan to evaluate student growth through conversations and discussions of public servants and how they help us every day.

Benefit to the students and the school
Students will be able to see their collaborative work evolve throughout the process. The students will understand the impact they have on their school and community as they present the mural after completion.

Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable)
This mural will start in January 2020 and be completed by the end of the school year (June 2020).
