Movies about Making in Mashpee with HUE Animation

BY Amanda Hough

Mashpee High School

Project Description

The goal of getting HUE Animation Studio and creating portable green screens is for students to gain 21st century skills by collaborating with each other to communicate and share their ideas. Students will be able to not only design and create a product but share the process of “making” the product with the whole world by scripting, story boarding, producing, capturing footage, editing, and then publishing short films about knowledge they have grained through a project made, how the project was made, or information presented to them in classes.

How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)

The products will be evaluated by the number of suitable movies made and ease of use of the product by both students and staff. We are looking for the HUE Animation Cameras and green screens to be used across curriculum for students to present and make movies about their projects and what they are learning.

Benefit to the students and the school

Students will be able to collaborate and make their own movies about projects they have made. Students will be able to share information through movies they make and use the HUE Animation Studio as another tool for creating presentations to peers and teachers.

Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable)

Students are currently doing hands on projects and “making” in their classes. Students will be able to start making movies as soon as the equipment is received. They will continue to make movies throughout their time at Mashpee Middle High School because once the HUE Animation Cameras are put in the hands of the students they can make movies for student presentations, about extra curricular activities in a club setting, to promote their projects, and what they are doing in school at Mashpee Middle High School.
