Mashpee High School
Our goal is to produce a color monthly newsletter that will be distributed to parents, teachers, and all the students in Mashpee Middle High School. The newsletter will be created by students in our Wellness classes in conjunction with our award-winning Health Occupations Students of America club.
How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)
We will gauge the success of the project through a system of parental feedback using forms on GoogleClassroom, which we are currently integrating with our new Wellness curriculum.
Benefit to the students and the school
Students will benefit in a number of ways:
They will learn how to be advocates for their own health and wellness through the use of effective and informative health research.
They will learn to be advocates for their peers and family members by staying informed of current health risks and personal risk factors.
They will improve the quality of their writing through regular practice.
They will improve their 21st century skills through the frequent and regular use of cutting edge technology and software tools.
The rest of the school will benefit by gaining knowledge about current teen health and wellness topics through the monthly newsletters.
Budget (Please detail how funding will be used. Itemize as appropriate.)
The cost of producing one newsletter to be distributed to 500 students and families will be approximately $150 per newsletter. If we were to receive the $500 mini grant, we would be able to offset the cost to the school for four out of eight annual newsletters.
Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable.)
Newsletters will be produced monthly throughout the school year beginning this October.
