Wareham High School
35 Cadets from the Wareham JROTC program will participate in the Leadership Reaction Course at Joint Base Cape Cod followed by an aviation orientation session. Cadets will be placed in leadership positions with groups of 5-10 other cadets as they negotiate a series of 10 obstacles. Each obstacle has a given scenario and equipment where the group has to develop and implement solutions to negotiate the given obstacle.
How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)?
There will be National Guard and Reserve Soldiers on site to give a formal evaluation to each team following the negotiation of each obstacle. Cadets will conduct an after action review following the event to develop lessons learned and how to plan, coordinate and execute this field trip even better the next year.
Benefit to the students and the school
Students develop leadership skills in stressful situations, and learn how to empower their peers in leadership situations. Individual self discipline and confidence is also developed.
Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable)
Cadet Leadership from the Battalion will develop a plan and disseminate the information for the Leadership Reaction Course to all other cadets in February 2019.
Cadets will coordinate with all agencies involved in March 2019.
Cadets will rehearse their actions for the Leadership Reaction Course no later than 10 May 2019.
The trip takes place on Thursday, 23 May 2019 during the school day.
