Project Description

The objectives for these funds will be to use the money to grow our Fountas and Pinnell reading system for grades 5-8. We have a complete collection of readers and resources for our K-4th grade, but have just bought the program for our upper grades. At this point we only have the assessment system and have a limited number of genre sets for grades 5-8.

How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)?

The projected will be evaluated by using state assessments along with school wide assessments that gauge a student’s comprehension and fluency skills.

Benefit to the students and the school

These books will be used with students to practice fluency, promote discussion for deeper comprehension, develop and extend vocabulary, and foster reading success with increasingly challenging texts. Our students who receive special education services, and reading support will benefit from these texts. These genre sets will be at our students reading but also at an age appropriate interest level for middle school students.
