What are Educational Mini-Grants?

Educational Mini-Grants are grants given every year by The Cape Cod 5 Charitable Foundation Trust to public school teachers on Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Wareham, Massachusetts. The grants are for amounts up to $500 and fund educational projects. Since beginning in 2000, 1,000 grants totaling over $450,000 have been awarded.

Who is eligible to apply?  Public school teachers from Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Wareham, Massachusetts.

How are projects selected?  Projects are evaluated by The Cape Cod 5 Charitable Foundation Trust’s Education Donation Advisory Committee. Last year, 84 grants were awarded out of 146 grant applications submitted.

What is the criteria?  Projects must be related to the subject taught by the applicant and should be designed to have a broad impact – for an entire class, classes or grade level, or a large subset of students throughout the school as opposed to a small, select group of students.

How do the teachers apply?  Each year we will open up the application process at the beginning of the school year. Please check the foundation’s website for specific dates and the link to the online application here.

When is the deadline?  The deadline for applications is usually in October. Please check the foundation’s website for specific dates here. Winners are notified at the end of December, and the awards are presented at a special reception in January or February. Check back for specific dates before the end of the school year.
