Project Description
The 3D printer will be used within the shop for the IT students to learn how to create digital models in a 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) file and then creating a physical three-dimensional objects. The 3D printer provides a variety of learning experiences for students. They will learn how different 3D printers work and how to operate them; students will also discover how to troubleshoot and solve problems. One specific project students can work on is they use it for IOT by printing custom cases that integrate with Raspberry Pi or Arduino. This experience will help students be prepared for future jobs in the technology field. 3D printing provides students with opportunities to experiment with ideas, expanding and growing their creativity and problem solving skills.

How will the project be evaluated (e.g. how will you gauge its success)
Success is using this tool in every shop and subject area at Cape Cod Tech by bringing this technology into every classroom.

Benefit to the students and the school
Students will be able to work with teachers across all different areas of study to create models to be used in the all classrooms. Topographic maps can be created for history and molecule and cell models for science. Cape Tech being a technical school could also use a 3D printer in many of the shops. The automotive and marine students can print out replacement parts or modified examples of existing parts for testing in automobiles and boats. Culinary students can create molds for food products. Engineering design students can print out prototypes for testing. Dental students could create models of teeth and a mouth. Health tech can create replicas of organs to study the size and shapes and how the human body works.

Timeline of Project (when will you do the project, if applicable)
There is no end to this project, students will continue to create and learn with the 3D printer and the products it can produce well into the future.
